Price Comparison
The Acer Nitro XV272U is a 27-inch QHD monitor with a lot going for it, and a definite favorite among gamers out there looking for great all-round quality performance. Any discerning gamer will find real value here – a 1ms response time, adaptive sync technology, IPS panel technology all displayed on a crystal-clear high resolution. If that’s what you’re looking for in a monitor, this Acer Pbmiiprzx is an excellent choice.
You can spend more of course, to get better specs and maybe a bigger screen, this Acer packs an entry level DisplayHDR 400 support only, and its QHD 1440p isn’t the highest, there are more modern monitors like the ASUS ROG Strix XG27UQ or the Samsung Odyssey G5 with better adaptive sync standards available.
But if you’re shopping, with the Nitro XV272U, you’re getting lots of value for your money, and if upgrading from a more basic monitor, you’re going to be impressed by Acer’s offering.
Acer Nitro XV272U Specification
Design
Simply put, the Acer XV272U is a beautiful monitor. Everything from the slim borders to the attractive, slim stand and rounded base, make for a clever design that will be eye-catching on your desk. The ergonomic stand offers 120mm height adjustment, -5°/20° tilt, 90° pivot, and 360° swivel. In case you need to hook it up to a wall, there are 100 x 100 VESA compatible holes for mounting it to a wall bracket.
Port options on this monitor include a pair of HDMI 2.0 ports, a single DisplayPort 1.4. In addition to these standard port options, there’s an included USB 3.0 hub and a headphones socket.
Acer Nitro XV272U Pbmiiprzx Performance
With a 10-color support via dithering (8-bit + 2-bit frame rate control) and 95% coverage of the DCI-P3 color gamut, the Acer Nitro XV272U delivers excellent color performance, just like the 34-inch Sceptre C345W-2560UN we reviewed recently. With these specifications, it means that this screen is more than just a gaming monitor. Its decent color handling makes it a perfect candidate for content creators and professional media editors.
Sure, the 144Hz refresh rate is a gaming designation, but the IPS panel and 1440p resolution imply that the monitor can work well for both wok and play. To further add to the XV272U Pbmiiprzx monitor’s gaming credentials, it supports AMD FreeSync in addition to the 48-144hz variable refresh window.
When playing, a 4ms grey to grey response time does a nice job minimising image ghosting, though the 27-inch LG UltraGear 27GN750-B gets a shorter 1ms refresh rate, G-Sync support and a 240Hz refresh rate, but its resolution maxes at only 1920 x 1080 pixels. Should you need to reduce any blurring effects further, you can do so by enabling the 1ms Visual Response Boost technology that makes use of back light strobing to reduce motion blur.
Additional gamer friendly features available on the Nitro XV272U include Aim Point (enables custom cross hairs) and Black Boost (that makes dark game scenes more visible).
Bottom Line
The Acer Nitro XV272U is a great 27-inch monitor, that has all it takes to perfect both game and play. We like it for the high-quality performance, sleek design and great price for the features. Everything on this monitor is simply impressive – from the high resolution IPS panel, FreeSync support to the great color coverage is simply irresistible.
Lie any other electronic gadget, there are a few limitations though. For instance, it can’t simultaneously run FreeSync and HDR at the same time, but that’s just a flaw to note and not reason not to buy this monitor.
That said, the LG 27GL850-B remains our Editors’ Choice for mid-size gaming monitors, thanks to a 27-inch QHD IPS monitor, 1MS response time, 144Hz refresh rate, Nvidia G-Sync compatibility and an ultra-thin design.
Nevertheless, the Acer Nitro XV272U Pbmiiprzx is an equally great gaming monitor that delivers stunning picture quality, while the included FreeSync technology ensures flawless gaming and productivity performance.
