The AOC 24B2XH is an excellent economy monitor that’s a good match for the home-office. As ever, with budget monitors, it lacks extras like adaptive sync and built-in speakers, but it makes up with the best image quality.
- Stellar image quality
- Low price
- Looks stylish
- Limited connectivity
- No height adjustment
The AOC 24B2XH is a fantastic little piece of kit, designed for folks who need a basic monitor for the home-office. It delivers good image quality and a caliber of image that’s more than acceptable, considering that this display isn’t expensive at all. If you need it bigger, there’s a 27-inch model of the same monitor – the AOC 27B2H, equally inexpensive compared to competing monitors.
As ever, you don’t expect a lot of extras at this price point, but the 24B2XH delivers well as expected, and it even includes a Full HD (1,920 x 1,080 pixels) resolution and IPS panel technology, that are often available in monitors that cost slightly more.
The HP V223ve is the only other budget monitor we’ve reviewed with a perfect balance of price and function, but both the AOC and HP don’t pack enough punch to unseat the Sceptre E248W-19203R as our Top Pick for budget office monitors.

Design & Features
As mentioned, the AOC 24B2XH is a pretty basic monitor, but that doesn’t mean it looks awful at all. Like the HP 24mh that we reviewed last year, this AOC looks sleek and has a cleaner-look than older offerings. It sports a matte black on the entire case, making it scratch and smudge-proof, meaning it will continue to look great for a long time. The display has very thin bezels, which gives users the impression that it’s larger than it really is.
With a compact design, this monitor will occupy very little space on your desk, and with a thin chassis, you can easily mount it to a wall or stand via the available VESA holes. The 24B2XH monitor weighs under 6 pounds, making it quite portable and it won’t need a reinforced desk.
Build quality on the AOC isn’t so great, due to the thin plastics that feel a bit flimsy and fragile, so you’ll need to keep an eye not to flip it over. It still uses OSD buttons, we can’t complain at this price point, though. Each of the keys is labeled with pressed markings at the front, but they’re still going to be difficult to locate in the dark since they are blacked out.
Connectivity is limited, typical with budget monitors – it only offers HDMI 1.4 and VGA for video inputs. It also has a 3.5mm jack for speakers, a worthwhile inclusion since this monitor doesn’t include built-in speakers.
The AOC 24B2XH is bigger than our favorite the Acer SB220Q bi, but boasts a 23.8-inch IPS panel with a Full HD (1,920 by 1,080 pixels) resolution, 75Hz maximum refresh rate, and 8ms response time. Its peak brightness is rated at 250 cd/m2 while the contrast ratio is at a typical 1000:1, just like most IPS panels.
Beyond that, this monitor doesn’t get any special features, like HDR or gaming chops, but the Asus VA27EHE adds adaptive sync for gaming, but it gets good color quality.
A 1,920 x 1,080 screen at this size is perfect for just about any type of use, may it be productivity or office applications. At 24-inches, it’s possible to balance the pixel density with good sharpness and visibility, without the need to use scaling in order to read walls of tiny text.
Games and movies will also look great, but the lack of adaptive sync and the small virtual space available will feel a bit cramped, when you have one or more apps running at the same time. The AOC 24B2XH is capable of covering 100% of the sRGB gamut, which is excellent when compared to the rest in this price range.
Verdict – A colourful monitor than most
The AOC 24B2XH is an excellent economy monitor that’s a good match for the home-office. As ever, with budget monitors, it lacks extras like adaptive sync and built-in speakers, but it makes up with the best image quality. Again, the IPS panel offers strong color fidelity and great contrast giving users a nice and vibrant view.
Also, it’s well calibrated to give superb accuracy out of the box, so you won’t need to tweak a thing to get the best viewing experience. The chassis’ build quality could use some improvements and a few extra features could be fine, but we’re absolutely fin with the offering keeping in mind it costs so little.
Overall, the AOC 24B2XH is a fantastic value monitor that we highly recommend for anyone looking for imaging performance more than anything else.
