The HP Envy 6020e All-in-One printer stands out as an excellent choice for anyone who needs to print color photos but also needs to use the scanner and copier functions, as well as the added benefit of auto-duplex printing.
- Easy to use and setup
- Quite affordable
- Quality photo prints
- Lacks dedicated photo printer quality
- Not as fast as HP claims
The HP Envy 6020e All-in-One is an affordable printer that earns a spot on our Editors’ Choice list due to its high-quality prints and versatility as an all-in-one with a built-in scanner. In addition, it has some decent features and looks great in most ways, despite its low asking price.
Although the body is plastic, just like the HP ENVY 6055 – I have not seen a metallic printer. It feels solid, and the power cable is detachable, allowing it to be replaced, unlike some printers with permanent cables. It has a slim profile, weighing 5.22 kgs, measuring 36.11 x 43.25 x 13.21 cm.
The Envy 6020e’s compact form factor makes it an ideal choice for offices with limited space. While you’d purchase it to save space, keep in mind that you’ll need enough headroom to lift the scanner lid if necessary.
On the front section, there are only five illuminated touch button controls. The majority of interaction will take place through the HP Smart App. While this may look like much work for some, it simplifies usage by reducing clutter and making setup and use extremely simple.
Although it is not the fastest printer in the room – it is a budget printer – it still produces high-quality prints. You’re getting a solid ten pages per minute in black and white or seven pages per minute in color. It takes about a minute to print a 4 x 6-inch color photograph.
The HP Envy 6020e’s color quality is quite impressive, producing well-toned, punchy prints that stay within the defined range. Each color is vibrant and detailed, which results in excellent photo printing – or at the very least, decent for an all-in-one.
On the downside, the Envy 6020e’s tone appears washed out. Likewise, the black lacks the depth found on most other photo printers. For the trained eye, it’s easy to detect minor banding in the grayscale, but for the rest of us, it will go unnoticed.
The HP Smart App has to be one of the best features here. Its setup is straightforward, requiring only one page of instructions. Yes, just one, and you can immediately scan the QR code. A single scan will bring up the app, which will walk you through the process of setting up ink, paper, and Wi-Fi. From setup to ready to print, you’ll spend less than ten minutes in total. Impressive.
Another noteworthy feature is the scanner. Because the Envy 6020e All-in-One is included in our list of photo printers, the scanner distinguishes it from dedicated photo printers, which frequently lack this feature. The scanner can copy up to eight pages per minute in black and white or four pages per minute in color at a 300 x 300 dpi resolution.
The HP Envy 6020e features a 1200 x 1200 dpi black-and-white print resolution, as well as a respectable 4800 x 1200 color print resolution. A four-color ink cartridge supplies the color, but the black ink cartridge is sold separately. True, there are only two, making it simple to replace.
This is not ideal – mainly if you print in a single color frequently, as this will require changing color cartridges for a single color while wasting the others. Additionally, the auto-duplex feature saves time by allowing you to print on both sides without manually turning the pages.
The HP Envy 6020e is an excellent printer for anyone who wants to print color photos and needs a scanner and copier. Its compact profile is equally a great candidate for small offices with limited space and ease of use. Additionally, if you’re looking for a printer that’s simple to set up and use without requiring many extras, this should be it.
However, simplicity comes with a few trade-offs, including the absence of a printer display and the inability to print the highest-quality photos. Also, because it comes with a single-color ink cartridge, you’ll spend more than average if you frequently print a single color.
With that said, the HP Envy 6020e All-in-One Printer is a decent choice for an at-home school setup, a college dorm, and most definitely a home office, thanks to its exciting features, which include scan and copy capabilities. It is our newest Editors’ Choice for all-in-one printers on a budget.
